There's Some Incredible Humans Out There!
its been a week packed with progress after talks over tea with several advisory team members, including publishing advisors, brand developers, business consultants, and partners in social progress.
One inspiring meeting was with Daryl Davis, a black American famous for his work guiding more than 44 klansmen give up their robes. Daryl is the subject from the documentary “Accidental Courtesy” (available on Netflix), and author of “Klan-destine Relationships." He asserts “You cannot beat the hate out of a hateful person" and I took note of his pro-cop; anti-corruption arguments.
Yesterday I also had the pleasure of having dinner with another human doing amazing work, J.R. Baker-Flowers, founder of The UNLEARNing Project and author of Breaking BITCH, which calls out the culture of 'bitch' in entertainment and conversation, as an overlooked form of oppression, and symbolic of similar patriarchal behaviors that diminish the power of women. J.R. is doing great work writing and speaking about the power of language and how we can UNLEARN racism, sexism, and homophobia. She also had a lot to share with me about her experience self-publishing. Thank you Jamekaa and all! Especially Emma G, for helping connect me with so many incredible humans!
